Embodied Relational Therapy
What is Embodied Relational Therapy?
As embodied beings we have a natural instinct to reach out and grow towards life and light, and the human energy system works on the principle of a creative and unending flow of energy to unite mind/body/spirit.
A response to growth can often be attachment to existing structures and well known, tried and tested methods of living in the world are sometimes not given up easily, creating uneasiness and uncomfortable feelings in the mind/body/spirit. If a resistance to growth is persistent the energy can become blocked producing symptoms and ‘dis’-ease. This can be seen as a signal of the emerging need for growth and an attempt to change, trying to ‘push’ through the energy, which naturally wants to flow.
The Embodied Relational Therapy model accepts and works with, rather than against, the resistance, discovering and integrating the many aspects of energy. Following the energy wherever it wants to go, within a safe and trusting environment gently encourages this natural healthy response. I incorporate talking, movement, creative expression, grounding contact with nature and Homeopathic Integrative prescribing into the therapy, depending on what emerges and feels safe and appropriate at each stage.
